The Sleepsonic® stereo speaker pillow was first developed and test marketed in 2004 by two high-tech entreprenuers, one from a design backround with roots in New York and Rhode Island, and the other seasoned from the glorious high-rolling days of the Silicon Valley in California. After meeting each other, marrying, and forming a partnership, they set themselves up to study in wholistic fields and audio-based therapies.

For many years both partners enjoyed their work in the sales, procurement and research of audio programs in CD, DVD, and cassette format for individual consumers, health practitioners and medical doctors. Finding headphones barely useful for such applications as sleep, relaxation, and concentration, the two founders started seeking out pillow-type speaker systems for improving comfort for the reclined body while receiving the benefits of a selected audio program. Since no single existing product stood out from the crowd, they embarked on their own mission to develop a high quality, customizable speaker pillow to be useful and adaptable for many applications, especially in recovery environments that may be situated in the in-home healthcare or hospital setting. The pillows are also designed for any active and discriminating listener to be easily utilized for a self-help or audio learning regimen.
